Guild tankard
Probably Germany, 1659
Cast pewter with engraved decoration. Lidded guild tankard on three winged cherub feet. Engraved decoration on the body – two angel figures on either side of a ring containing a four-line inscription: “CHRISTOF FREMDE / IOHANES LIENHART / 1659 / DEN 23 MARTZ”. The flat cover is decorated with a raised shield engraved with the emblem of the guild. On the inside base of the tankard is a circular relief of the Crucifixion.
